Diarrhea
Acute diarrhea with minimum dehydration is treated with clear liquids like Pedialyte for 12-24 hours. Oral Electrolyte like Pedialyte small amounts (1-2 oz) every 15-20 minutes as tolerated for 12 hours. The patient can then be given salted crackers & pretzels. Then advance to soft diet ( rice, mashed potatoes ). The patient needs to be seen by a physician if patient has fever, vomiting, decreased urine output, to check for dehydration.
